At-Home Sleeping Test
How to Take an At-Home Sleeping Test
This Type of Test Can Accurately Help us Determine if You Have Obstructive Sleep Apnea
What an At-Home Sleep Test Measures
- Breathing patterns
- How much oxygen is in the blood
- Your movement associated with breathing
- Snoring
- Heart rate
- Brain waves
- Eye and leg movements

Your Data Will Be Analyzed

Once your test is completed and the equipment is returned, your results will be analyzed to determine if you have OSA. HSATs are highly accurate in diagnosing sleep apnea and allow patients to feel much more comfortable than during an in-lab test.
What is OSA?
Obstructive sleep apnea is a sleep disorder characterized by pauses in breathing or shallow breathing during sleep. These pauses can last for a few seconds to minutes and can occur multiple times throughout the night. This condition is caused by the relaxation of the muscles in the throat, which leads to the blockage of the airway. As a result, the body does not receive enough oxygen, leading to disrupted sleep and possible health complications. Common symptoms of obstructive sleep apnea include loud snoring, daytime fatigue, headaches, and irritability.
Treatment options for this condition usually involve lifestyle changes as well as the use of a continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) machine during sleep. Other treatment options include oral appliances or, in more severe cases, surgery.

We can discuss the best ways in which to treat your sleep apnea such as a CPAP machine, oral appliance or NightLase® therapy; a non-invasive laser treatment performed here in our office to tighten the tissue that causes contractions and increases the production of collagen in the palette to lighten the effects of sleep apnea. This is not a permanent solution, however, results can last anywhere from 12-24 months and can be performed annually. This method can improve both your and your partner’s sleep quality.
