Which Cosmetic Dentistry Services Do We Offer?

Cosmetic dentistry treatments are incredibly popular with patients, and we offer a wide range of them. Teeth whitening is one such service that many people choose for their cosmetic needs; it can make your smile brighter than ever before! You may also be interested in our other options like veneers or implants if you want to change the way your teeth look without causing any permanent damage.

Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers are tiny, custom-made shells that cover the front of your teeth to improve their appearance. The cosmetic dentist designs them and the lab creates them. The dentist can alter the size, shape, length, and colour of teeth using veneers, which are cemented to the tooth to give teeth the greatest possible cosmetic appearance.

To determine whether porcelain veneers are the best option for you, we complete a cosmetic dentistry examination and can even digitally design your dream smile. We prepare the tooth (or teeth) and take digital impressions to ensure that your porcelain veneers fit perfectly after doing an initial inspection and going over the procedure with our patients. At a separate appointment, once your custom made porcelain veneers are back from the lab, we cement them in place and you are ready to face the world with your new smile makeover.

Dental Crowns

Dental crowns are caps that are affixed to broken teeth. When fillings are ineffective, crowns are utilised to protect, cover, and restore the contour of your teeth. Metals, porcelain, resin, and ceramics can all be used to create dental crowns. Over time, they normally only need frequent, regular oral health and no extra maintenance.

At Onyx Dental we are able to have your crown prepared and cemented all in one day. This is thanks to the leading technology that we have at Onyx Dental. Starting with digital scans that replace the messy impression materials that were used before. Once your tooth is prepped a digital scan will be taken of your teeth and bite and the Onyx Dental team will design your custom crown. This design is then sent to our in-office milling machine that will mill your custom-designed crown within less than an hour. This allows you time to hang out at our office and enjoy the TV or run any errands you may need to and come back for crown insertion. Now you no longer have to wait 2 weeks for the lab to make your crown and wear an uncomfortable temporary crown.

Teeth Whitening

One of the first things people often notice when meeting someone is a brilliant white smile – or lack thereof. Unfortunately, surface stains from food, drink, or cigarette use can exacerbate the issue of teeth darkening with age. As a result, it’s normal for many people to notice that their teeth have become yellowed or tarnished.

Professional in-office teeth whitening procedures can lighten this staining and bring back your teeth’s original beauty. There are primarily two kinds of teeth-whitening procedures employed. At Onyx Dental we offer both in-office whitening and take-home whitening.

WIth our take-home whitening we make custom trays that are made after we take a digital scan of your teeth that have a gel reservoir for effective whitening. You will be given a whitening gel that you will apply as directed. This method is more cost effective however results can take up to 5-10 days for desired effect.

With our in-office whitening you will be scheduled with our dental hygienists for Philips Zoom Whitening™. After the hygienist has effectively cleaned your teeth she can isolate the teeth and apply the gel as needed. Results are rapidly achieved within approximately a one hour whitening session. After whitening you will be given a take home touch up kit to keep your smile bright and brilliant!

Dentures

A denture is a removable restoration for missing teeth and the tissues around them. There are two varieties of dentures: complete and partial. Partial dentures are used when some natural teeth are still present, but complete dentures are used when all the teeth are lost. Since gum tissue and jaw bones can change over time, both complete and partial dentures may need to be replaced from time to time, but they should not generally require significantly more maintenance than regular teeth.

Frequently Asked Questions

At Onyx Dental, cosmetic dentistry operations range from straightforward teeth whitening to less invasive procedures like teeth contouring or chip repair to intricate smile makeovers and even challenging full mouth reconstructions (partnering with a prosthodontist or an implantologist, or both). Many of the cosmetic dentistry operations that patients request at our clinic can be completed in a single visit. Before doing the real treatment, a second session for a mock-up would be required if the patient would prefer to see how the final result will look. Complex treatments, it goes without saying, require more sittings.
It’s commonly assumed that dental insurance doesn’t cover cosmetic dentistry procedures. In our experience, even if the end result appears to have improved the look of a patient’s smile, many of the cosmetic procedures we perform at Onyx Dental are partially or even entirely covered by most dental insurances if they are functional in nature. On the other hand, we also warn patients that depending solely on insurance coverage for cosmetic procedures may not yield the best results because insurance companies create plans based on the requirements of a healthy young person, not an average person who has more dental work than a healthy person. Any cosmetic procedure we perform here is always preceded by a check with both the patient and their insurance policy.
